Arthur George Elkington Jr. passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, at his home in Kalispell, Montana. He was born April 11, 1932, in Salinas, California, to George and Anne Elkington. Arthur married Elaine Mullings in July of 1957, and together they shared 68 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, partnership, and devotion to family. He graduated from high school and attended some junior college before being drafted into the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his service, Arthur began a long career in telecommunications, working for AT&T from 1955 until 1984, which later transitioned to Lucent, before taking early retirement and founding his own business, A&M Phone Systems, which he successfully operated for 17 years in California. Arthur later moved to Kalispell with his granddaughter Amanda, and in 2001 the rest of the family followed, making Montana their home. Arthur was known as a dedicated worker, a devoted husband, and a loving father and grandfather. He took pride in providing for his family and carried a strong work ethic throughout his life. One of his greatest joys was model trains, a passion he developed as a child and enjoyed well into adulthood. Through his involvement in model train clubs, he formed lasting friendships and found great satisfaction in the hobby he loved. He is survived by his wife, Elaine; his children, Keith (Sherry) and David Elkington; and his grandchildren, Amanda Elkington, Erik Elkington, and Kirk Elkington. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren: Zackary, Arianna, and Charley Guinnane; Lorelai and Eli Bowling; and Wyatt, Elly, and Elsy Elkington. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, George and Anne Elkington; his sisters, Anna and Cecelia; and his children, Janet and Daniel. A private family graveside service will be held. Buffalo Hill Funeral Home is caring for the family.
