Carol E. Patterson passed away on July 15, 2023 and was delivered into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Carol passed away at the Lodge, the Buffalo HIll Terrace memory care unit, with her daughters by her side.
Carol was born on November 5, 1927 to Anson G. and Ruth H. (Crandall) Fredenberg. Carol was the thirteenth of sixteen children. Carol grew up on her family farm on Trumble Creek Road. She attended the one room Half Moon country school, for the early years of her education. She then went to Flathead High School graduating in 1945.
Carol met and later married Henry E. Patterson on January 14, 1949. They were married for 57 years. They resided in Kalispell until 1955 when Henry was hired by the Great Northern Railroad. They moved to Whitefish where they raised their five daughters
Carol was a stay-at-home mom but she was always busy. She loved children - especially babies - and was a favorite babysitter for family, friends, and neighbors. She was a PTA member, a room mother, volunteered at her children’s school whenever help was needed and was a Girl Scout Leader. Carol was an avid reader and her daughters spent many happy hours with her reading to them.
Carol was also an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Whitefish. She taught Sunday School for many years, was a member of LWML and helped sew hundreds of quilts for World Relief.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Henry, her parents, ten brothers and five sisters..
Carol is survived by her daughters Wendy (Darrell) Howard of Whitefish, Linda (Robert) Howard of Kalispell, Nancy (John) Turner of Kalispell, Meredith (Mark) Beckedahl of Shelby and Karen (Jay) Kade of Parker, Colorado. She has 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great great children. Carol is survived by four sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
