A veteran of the Vietnam war, David served six years in the U.S. Army as an officer, rising to the rank of Captain and flying Cobra helicopters on numerous missions and continued his service in the National Guard for several years following his military career. David enjoyed a lifelong passion for aviation learning to fly fixed wing at age 15. He flew helicopters for Exxon, served as an instructor pilot at Fort Rucker in Enterprise, Alabama, and later worked with the Tennessee Farm Bureau before completing his career with Jobs for Tennessee Graduate, helping students get ready for the workforce after graduation.

He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed sharing those experiences with his children through Boy Scouts, sports, and family adventures. He also had a special fondness for animals, gourmet cooking, and above all, time spent with family.

In honor of David’s memory, his family wants friends and loved ones to remember him for his adventurous spirit, love of flight, quick and subtle wit and his devotion to his family and pets Siggi, Daisy, Lady, Pup, Sofi, Leo, Eddie and Nikolai.
