Eleanor Olsen

February 15, 1933 — August 29, 2022

Eleanor Olsen was born February 15, 1933, the daughter of Christine and Henry Eriksmoen. She grew up on a farm near Ambrose, North Dakota. Days were spent jumping from the hay loft, being teased by her brother and joy riding in her Grandpas car. Since she had to use a pillow to see over the steering wheel, he always knew she was borrowing the car.

She met Richard Olsen at a school carnival and they were married shortly after. They got their marriage license in North Dakota and were married in Plentywood, Montana on November 27, 1951. In March of the next year, they were informed their marriage wasnt legal so they got married again in North Dakota.

In no time at all (within five years) they had four daughters. She liked to say after every birth the doctor would say, its another girl.

Adventure called and the family moved to Montana in 1965. She worked as a CNA until 1970 when she went back to school to earn her Licensed Practical Nursing degree.

She worked at Immanuel Lutheran Home for several years. In 1995, life took an unexpected turn as she was involved in a serious accident. She worked hard and was able to walk again due to her determination and perseverance.

Her final days were spent back at Immanuel Lutheran Home. Some of the residents were former co-workers, and some of the nurses had worked under her as CNAs. It is hard to express our appreciation for the love and care she received while there.

The world was definitely a better place while she was on earth, and shell be missed by many.

Eleanor was predeceased by her parents Henry and Christine Eriksmoen, her husband Richard Olsen, brothers Edward Walsh, Gary Eriksmoen; sisters Lillian Dooley, Amelia, Rose Monson and Barbara Eriksmoen. She is survived by daughters Sue of Kalispell, Kathy (Tim) of Columbia Falls, Barb (Danny) of Kissee Mills, Missouri and Fran (Dave) of Columbia Falls, brother David Eriksmoen of Ambrose, North Dakota and sister Charlotte Grote of Crosby, North Dakota. Eleanor has numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren (with more on the way).
