Janice K. Schultz, 76, of Columbia Falls, MT, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 19, 2025.

Jan was born in 1949 to Edward and Edith Schultz. The family eventually settled in Columbia Falls, where Jan and her younger brother, Gary, attended both grade school and high school. From a young age, Jan stood out as a bright, organized, and diligent student. Her commitment to learning earned her a scholarship to Valparaiso University, where she studied business, English, and accounting.

Jan wore many hats throughout her professional life. A highly capable and detail-oriented accountant, she became a trusted advisor to many clients, helping bring structure and clarity to their financial lives. She spent much of her career in law offices, but she was never simply a secretary—Jan was the heart and conscience of the businesses she supported.

She had a rare ability to connect with people in their most vulnerable moments, whether helping clients navigate the loss of a loved one or supporting those facing unexpected hardship. Jan brought not just expertise, but empathy and grace to every encounter. While attorneys handled the legal side, Jan quietly led with compassion guiding clients, managing complex cases, and soothing frayed nerves with patience and kindness.

Among her many professional relationships, her bond with her longtime colleague and friend, John Dudis, stood out. Their working relationship was grounded in mutual respect, deep trust, and a shared love for good Mexican food during well-earned lunch breaks. Jan's absence leaves a profound void in John’s life—and in the lives of all who worked alongside her.
