John "Jack" Alfred Buck

Lakeside, Montana

John “Jack” Alfred Buck, 91 went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 10th, 2024.

Jack was born to Ed and Ruth Buck on January 13th, 1933, in Kalispell, MT.

He met the love of his life Dorothy Jean Redfield while in high school. The love these two shared was indescribable. Jack joined the Army National Guard on September 24th, 1951, honorable discharged on Jan 24th, 1952, then joined U.S. Army January 25th, 1952, and served honorably through January 25th, 1955 and transferred to the Army Reserves and discharged on January 24th, 1960. During his time in the service, he was awarded an Occupational Medal for his time in Germany as well as a National Defense Service Medal.

Jack and Dorothy would write love letters to each other during his time in the service and while home on leave after contracting Typhoid Fever they married on May 14th, 1954. In the bliss of their union, they grew their family with seven children. Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He loved sharing the Gospel and read his bible daily until he could no longer read his daughter Josie read to him until his passing.

You would always see Jack and Dorothy in the stands at one of their grandchildren’s events. Nothing brought greater joy than the grandchildren’s school and sporting events. Jack was a very proud grandpa!

Jacks’ legacy is abundant with the growth of his family. His seven children came 13 grandchildren which then brought him 31 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

He had many jobs throughout his life from a farm hand, grocery clerk, tire shop, mills, to a tow truck driver. He loved hauling cars for the family for the local salvage yards. His favorite job by far was being a devoted family man.

He is survived by his children Vicki Swartzenberger, Robert (Bob) Buck (wife Lynn), Ronnie Buck, Kenny Buck, and Josie Buck. Grandchildren: April Stanisich (husband Mike), DawnD Kjensrud (husband Clayton), Jenny Root-Struble (Husband Craig), Joni Rohletter (husband Kevin), April Wright (husband JT), Jason Swartzenberger, Ashley Buck, Josh Buck, Brandon Buck, Morgan Sutton (husband Rob), Mark Sanders, Nathan Buck (Stephanie). Great Grandchildren: Cruz (Nicole), Chassity, Tanner (Colleena), Nathan, Tahja, Takoda, Casson (Brooke), Julia, Miken, Xaen, Royce, Carson, Maddox, Joey, Cody, Marrinity, Daisy, Landon, Ethan, Jaden, Trevor, Jacelyn, Gracie, Colter, Michael, Garrett, Lily, Nolan, Rory and Wilbur. Great-Great Grandchildren: Bently and Knoxyn. Honorary great granddaughter Maddison, friend in Christ Dan, Brother David Buck as well as numerous In-Laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Ed and Ruth Buck, Arthur and Dorothy Redfield, Wife Dorothy Redfield Buck, Daughter Ruthie Buck, Son Doug Buck, Son in law James Swartzenberger, Daughter in law Jeri Sullivan, Grandson Joseph (Joe-Joe) Buck, Great grandson Cameron Buck and 10 siblings awaited his arrival.

Services will be held Monday June 24th, 2024 at 12:00 for a graveside service and dedication at Glacier Memorial Gardens. After the dedication the family invites you to a reception to celebrate the life of our father, grandfather, brother and friend at the family home 158 Redfield Lane, Lakeside, MT
