Kyle, Joseph Ellingson passed away peacefully in the early hours of Friday, July 12th. He was 56.

Born in Pensacola, Florida to Glenda Gail Muir (Harris) and Joseph Curtis Ellingson, Kyle shared time between them. Most of his year was spent all around the deep South with his late mother, late stepfather, Richard Pierson and two younger sisters. During that time he played football, was first chair saxophone and discovered his lifelong love, Dungeons & Dragons.

Summers were spent a long the Emerald Coast with his late father, late stepmother, Jo, and two younger sisters catching bugs, snakes, fishing for mullet, and sailing with his dad. Some summers were spent abroad, including a memorable one which found him searching for seashells in the vast deserts of Riadh, S.A.

After graduating from Holly Turner high School Columbus in Columbus, GA, Kyle joined the army as a Chemical Operations Specialist. Eventually Kyle would move to Okinawa, Japan in the army where he worked at Army Space Command in Satcom. While living in Japan, Kyle developed a deep love for Japanese culture.

Returning to the US, Kyle enrolled at the University of New Orleans where he studied engineering and joined Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. He developed close friendships there, including Todd and Thomas Ecker, who he considered lifelong Brothers.

In school, Kyle worked for both Comp USA and the Costano Tobacco Litigation which he was very proud of. After leaving school, Kyle began working for Sprint/ Embark in Florida in Telecommunications.

In October of 2010, Kyle moved with his mother to Polson, Montana and began work for CenturyLink. It was there. He met the love of his life and soulmate, Jessica Washburn. There. They lived in a house overlooking the mission mountains with her two children, sharing his love of science, fiction and fantasy along with music and laughter with them.

In 2017, Kyle and Jessica relocated to Kalispell, Montana where Kyle let his imagination and creativity soar. Together they decorated every inch of their home together, collecting art, music, games, sharing dreams and building a life surrounded by fur babies.

Kyle is survived by his wife of 13 years, Jessica Washburn, her two sons: Chancelor and Braddock Olsen; Three dogs: Bourbon, Mishka and Bodie; Cat, Cornelius; and 4 sweet Ferrets. Two daughters: Bailey & Joey of Florida; and four sisters: Jessica & Jamille (Ellingson), Vanessa & Jennifer (Pierson).

Kyle was a gifted storyteller, an amazing conversationalist and sometimes comedian. He was thoughtful. Fiercely loyal, honest and loved deeply. He made an impression on anyone fortunate enough to have met him. He is deeply missed and his memory will be cherished forever.
