Maryanna Ruth Horton (Weitzel) passed away, in Kalispell, Montana, with complications from congestive heart failure and pulmonary hypertension, on September 10, 2024. She was 78 years old.
On June 6, 1946, Maryanna was born to David Edward and Lois Clare Weitzel, in Globe, Arizona. As the daughter of a Baptist pastor, she was raised not only in Arizona but also California, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington.
Maryanna became a registered nurse after attending the Emmanuel School of Nursing in Portland, Oregon where she met her loving husband, Daniel. On August 25, 1967, Maryanna and Daniel were married in Salem, Oregon and remained so faithfully for 57 years until her death. In 1974, they moved to the Philippine Islands where they spent their lives until 2012 serving as medical missionaries at the Palawan Baptist Hospital.
Maryanna is survived by her husband Daniel H. Horton; sons and daughters; Ruth Porter, Nate Horton, Ben Horton, Esther Eckley, and Matt Horton; her brother Paul Weitzel; Grandchildren; Anna, Stephanie, Daria, Timothy, Skyanne, Florence, Tamara Kay, Daniel, Alexander, Thea, Jasmine, James, Gideon, Sarita, Jesse, Walker, Joshua, Micah, Elijah, Tobiah, Obadiah, Tabitha, Lydia, Bentley, Savannah, and Lila; and Great Grandchildren; Gabriel, Daniel, Rowan, Matthias, Atticus, Cyndilynn, Saphyra, Renlee, Azariah, and Malachi.
Maryanna is preceded in death by her parents David Edward Weitzel and Lois Clare Weitzel, and her brother David Weitzel.
A Celebration of Life reception will be held from 2pm to 4pm, at Bethel Baptist Church, in Kalispell, Montana, on September 28, 2024. A burial will take place at Willamette National Cemetery, in Happy Valley, Oregon, on September 30, 2024.
