Stanley Connors

May 23, 1920 — March 29, 2010

Stanley John Connors-Born May 23rd, 1920 near Winona, Washington- Son of Jack Connors and Mexie (Walls) Connors. Family siblings were Cecil, Venus, and Elgin.

Stanley was raised in Washington and graduated high school with honors.

Early in 1942, he joined the U.S. Navy and while in training he met a wonderful lady named Doris Long. They were married on Sept. 29th, 1942. Doris was employed at the Boeings Plant in Seattle as a riveter.

Stan was stationed in Adak, Alaska after the birth of Keith, the 1st of 6 children, in 1943 in Seattle, Washington. Stan was a Radioman 1st class during his service in the U.S. Navy. While he was stationed in Charleston, South Carolina, Ken (#2 son) was born.

After being discharged from the Navy he moved the family to Kalispell, purchased land and built the family home in Helena Flats where 3rd son Don was born in 1948.

He worked on the Hungry Horse Dam as a sheet metal worker and later at the Columbia Falls Aluminum Plant. He had also worked over the years at Hundahl’s Sheet Metal, Richards Sheet Metal and General Sheet Metal shops in Kalispell.

It was in 1950 that Floris was born and then came Doris Marie in 1953. These two girls were the “apple of his eye.”

One more girl “Marianne” was born in 1960 but sadly passed away shortly after birth.

Dad and Mom raised all of the children through grade school in Helena Flats and then on through graduating at Flathead High School.

We were a closely knit family enjoying camping, fishing, huckleberry picking, and hunting. We camped many times in the 2 different pickup campers which Dad built himself using his skills as a sheet metal worker and welder. He also built the trailer to carry our wooden boat and later the aluminum boat.

Mother had the hard job of raising the “5- Orangutans “while dad was the breadwinner.

Dad ended his 50 plus years as a sheet metal worker when he retired after working at Prudhoe Bay on the North Slope of Alaska.

Through the years Dad was a member in many community and service organizations as follows:

-School Board Member-Helena Flats School

-50 year member Sheet Metal Workers International Association

-Life member of Post 2252 Veterans of Foreign Wars

-Grand Commander 98-99 of the Military Order of Cootie- Honor Degree of the VFW.

-Montana Veterans Home Memorial Board Member

-Charter member of Columbia Falls Post 72 American Legion

-Member of United Veterans of Flathead Valley.

After his retirement, Dad with mother always at his side dedicated themselves to supporting Veterans of the United States Military.

Today we honor him as he honored them.

He was and is truly loved by his entire family and will be greatly missed.
