Tommy Ross Bartlett, age 82, passed away peacefully in Kalispell, MT on May 25, 2026 surrounded by family.
Born on May 7, 1944 in San Angelo, Texas, he was the son of the late Ross and Kathleen Bartlett. Tommy lived a life defined by integrity, honor and wisdom, using his helpfulness and creativity to uplift his family and community.
In 1966, Tommy graduated and received his degree in Landscape Architecture as a member of the last class of the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas, known today as Texas A&M University. His love of the Fightin’ Texas Aggies was known to all who met him. A thumbs up and “Gig’em” was always part of the conversation. After college, he honorably served his country in the United States Army, rising to the rank of First Lieutenant.
Tommy was an avid outdoorsman and talented Landscape Architect who loved hunting with his buddies, coaching and umpiring Little League Baseball, attending the annual G-1 Aggie reunions, and using his innovative skills and imagination to build everything from homes and pools to spas and backyard oases. Whether cultivating personal gardens or meticulously shaping his home landscape, his passion for nature was always evident. He had a rare creativity for turning the ordinary into a beautiful piece of art. Truly a multifaceted and gifted man, he was a devoted father and a loyal friend.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a charter member of the Northwest Montana A&M Club. He lived out his last ten years in Big Sky Country, Montana, tucked literally in the middle of the Kootenai National Forest. There, he crafted his own little cabin in the woods, leaving a legacy of beautiful workmanship that can be seen in every nook and cranny.
Tommy is survived by his two children: Laura Moore of Hanover, PA; and Jeremy Bartlett and his wife, Kathleen, of Leander, TX; his brother and sister-in-law, James (Bub) and Jenny Bartlett of Rexford, MT; his five grandchildren, whom he treasured and took great pride in for their unique gifts and talents: Kathleen, Maryellen, William, Juliana, and Katelyn; his niece Jessica Martin and her husband Derek, of Midlothian, TX; and his sister-in-law and her husband, Dolores and Alan Hardin of Dallas, TX. He also leaves behind a close community of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Kathleen Bartlett, and his beloved wife of 38 years, Mary Bartlett.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on July 14, 2026 at 10:30am at St. Anthony Catholic Church; 404 N. Ballard Street, Wylie, TX. Interment will be on July 15, 2026 at 2:15pm at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX.
