Wilma Siemens

February 22, 1949 — April 19, 2011

Wilma Elaine Siemens “was welcomed home to her loving Father and restored to her youthful self” on April 19, 2011.

Wilma was born on Feb. 22, 1949, to John and Mae Sudan in Kalispell. She obtained her teacher’s diploma from Prairie Bible Institute in Canada and a business degree from Bozeman Votech School.

On Aug. 26, 1972, she married Patrick Siemens in Bigfork, where they later raised their four daughters.

Wilma enjoyed quilting, hiking, being an AWANA leader and an active member of 4-H. But for Wilma, family and church always came first. For many years, she was a stay-at-home mom, dedicating much of her time to caring for her family.

Once her youngest daughter was in school, Wilma became a business partner with Pat at Glacier Pre-Cast Concrete, where she was the boss behind the scenes. Whether it be in family, church or work, Wilma was always passionate about what she did.

In 2004, Wilma was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia, a debilitating form of dementia which left her unable to understand simple communication. Although this disease ultimately took her life, Wilma continued to be active, constantly walking in Bigfork. The family would like to compliment and extend utmost gratitude to Home Options Hospice for assisting Wilma so she could remain at home.

Wilma is survived by her husband of 39 years, Patrick, of Bigfork; daughter, Misha Siemens, of Bigfork; daughter, Mikel Siemens, and Bryce Edgmon, of Kalispell; daughter, Marcel, and Sean Quinn, of Kalispell; daughter, Marissa Siemens, of Houston; sister, Wanda, and Joe Smith, of Broadus; brother, Marvin, and Kathleen Sudan, of Kila; brother, Stan, and Cindy Sudan, of Boulder, Colo.; brother, Norman, and Michelle Sudan, of Kila; and grandchildren, Clay, Seamus, Shealon, Cyra, Cayja and Adrienne.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday April 24, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 25, at the Little Brown Church in Bigfork. Burial will follow the service at the Bigfork Community Cemetery. The family encourages friends and family to join them in a potluck barbecue at Swan River Hall after the burial.

The family requests donations for a scholarship to be set up in Wilma’s name at the Prairie Bible Institute.
