Carol Codrey

October 2, 1956 — August 23, 2020

Kalispell

Our beloved Carol Jean Aho Codrey was called to heaven on Sunday, August 23, 2020 after a sudden illness.  Born October 2, 1956 to Ernest and Evelyn Aho in Bigfork, Minnesota.  Living for a short time in Minnesota, Wyoming, and California the family settled in Evergreen, Montana.

Graduating from Flathead High School in 1975, Carol then enlisted in the Army and completed her basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.  She also served at Fort Hood with a brief time in Germany.  During her time in the Army, Carol made many lifelong friends she cherished.

After leaving the military, Carol worked various occupations within customer service making friends along the way.  She took pride in supporting her local community and was an active member of Women of the Moose for many years, achieving the rank of Senior Regent.  She contributed often to the Food Bank and the Veteran’s Pantry.  She was always willing to lend a helping hand, or offer words of wisdom, when needed.

Carol was passionate about her family and friends.  She took great pleasure in pranking those around her at every opportunity and thoroughly enjoyed every single gnome she received.  Carol had a great sense of humor including a long running family joke about stealing belly buttons and hiding them in a drawer.  She was highly skilled with a crochet hook and was an excellent cook and avid gardener.  She loved her cocker spaniel, Ginger, fiercely and spoiled her accordingly.  The only dog in the world who gets a daily allowance of gummy bears.

She is survived by her brother Mike Aho (Mary Lou) and sister Dianne Koch (Mike).  Her nephews and nieces; Wes, Josh, Chris, Josie, Danny, Alyssa, Laura, Jusup, and Andrea.  Grand nieces and nephews; Michaella, Addy, Allison, Cartyr, Bentlee, and Liam.  And many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents Ernest and Evelyn, and dear siblings; Jim, Donny, Janet, Lynne, and longtime companion Monty Dorr.

Graveside service will be held at Glacier Memorial Gardens in Kalispell at 1pm on Sunday, August 30 with a reception to follow at her home. (Please wear a mask during service.)
