Harriet Flaget

March 20, 1940 — November 7, 2019

HARRIET CAROLINE FLAGET, AGE 79

Former Eureka resident, Harriet Flaget, passed away due to natural causes on November 7th, 2019 in Kalispell, Montana.

Harriet graduated from Lincoln County High School in 1958, the same year she married husband, Carl. Carl and Harriet were married for 61 years and, in her passing, Carl said that that was not very long. She was a thoughtful and caring wife and mother. In her spare time, she cared for people in the nursing home in Eureka. Harriet would always read short stories to her children to help encourage them to be safe and wise. She spent many nights staying up to ensure all her children were home, safe, and well. Harriet and Carl loved to go huckleberry picking, camping, and fishing with friends and family in the great outdoors in Eureka. She also loved to knit, crochet, and create pottery. Her husband, children, and grandchildren regularly brought her huckleberries and enjoyed all the goodies she could make with them.

In her final days, Harriet said she was ready to go home to be with Jesus and see her mom. She waited until every one of her children were notified before peacefully passing away surrounded by loved ones.

She is survived by her husband, Carl Flaget (Kalispell, MT), her loving children Mel Flaget (Indiana), Glen Flaget (Kalispell, MT), Carolyn Horn (Great Falls, MT), Dale Flaget (Indiana), and Keith Flaget (Three Forks, MT), her sister Ruth Kelly (Belt, MT), fourteen grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her mother Agnes Evins, her father George Evins, and her brother Walter Evins.

To all of our family and friends, thank you so much for all of your support and well-wishes during these final moments with our loving mother. In honor of Harriet and Carl’s wishes of being together forever, they have chosen to also spend their afterlife together. In doing so, they wish to be cremated, keeping Harriet’s ashes until she can be reunited with Carl. There will then be a ceremony honoring their passing together, spreading their ashes on the hill by the reflector at their old property in Eureka, Montana. Until then, no services are planned. In the meantime, we encourage mourning friends and family to instead visit or call Carl to share their memories and love.
