In 1988 Joe retired from teaching. He and Louise returned to Lakeside and Flathead Lake. He spent his remaining years visiting with friends, hunting, fishing and enjoying the outdoors chasing grandkids and later great-grandchildren. Joe and Louise were happily married and inseparable for 63 years.
