Richard Robinson

August 19, 1942 — May 18, 2021

Richard T. Robinson, 78 of Marion Montana died Tuesday May 18th 2021 at home with his wife by his side.

Richard was born to Patrick H. Robinson VII & Doris E. Robinson (Allison) August 19, 1942 in Fremont, Michigan.  After high school graduation he joined the U.S. Navy where he completed Submarine School and continued to be trained as an Electronic Technician.  He became a crew member on the USS Sea Leopard, a diesel submarine stationed in the Atlantic.  He attended Nuclear Submarine School and was then stationed in Pearl Harbor where he was assigned to the USS Daniel Boone nuclear FBM submarine as a Reactor Operator.  He served close to eight years then continued his electronics career as a Computer Engineer.  In the 1990’s, he became a docent in the Blacksmith shop at the Gold Discovery Site near Auburn, California.  He went from fixing tiny little parts to beating iron; amazing.

Richard married Sarah E. Twelves March 9, 1968 in Bellevue, Washington.   Richard is survived by his wife Sarah Robinson of Marion, MT, son Patrick H. Robinson VIII and his wife Theresa Robinson, grandsons; Patrick IX and Dylan Robinson (Tacoma, WA.), daughter; Christine Talley (Puyallup, WA). Sister Judy Ritzenhein and husband Jim (upper Peninsula MI), sister in-law Kathy Robinson (Racine, WI). He is proceeded in death by his sister, Cheryl Leppiaho (Upper Peninsula of Michigan). Brother William Robinson (Racine, Wisconsin).

Richard was an avid fisherman, hunter, blacksmith and outdoorsman.  His lifestyle in Montana capped off all the love he had for the outdoor adventure.

Parkinson’s struck Richard in 2010.  He was able to continue his outdoor activities and blacksmithing until 2018 when the disease would no longer let him live the life he so wanted and loved.  Thank you to the Dept. of Neurology; Kalispell, Montana for prolonging his life.  Absolutely amazing what they achieved.  Medtronic devices and research by the Michael J. Fox Foundation provided extended years with our beloved Richard.

A huge thank you to Frontier Hospice for making his passing peaceful.  Richard will be greatly missed by all who knew him but he is made new again.

No services will be held. In lieu of flowers; the family requests donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Donate in Tribute to www.michaeljfox.org.
